劇痛中死亡！鎮靜劑拿成死刑藥離譜護士害命

美國田納西州1名75歲婦人因為頭痛，在去年的12月26日住進范德比爾特大學醫學中心(Vanderbilt University Medical Center)，醫生為她開了2毫克減緩憂慮的藥物，未料護士竟誤拿成10毫克的肌肉鬆弛劑，導致婦人在劇痛中身亡。本案在今年10月底至11月初進行調查，院方發表聲明表示將提出「矯正計畫」以避免日後再有憾事發生。

根據《每日郵報》報導，這名婦人因頭痛、腦水腫、視力下降等症狀而住院，由於病情穩定，院方打算先進行電腦斷層掃描。檢查前，醫師為她開了2毫克的鎮靜安眠藥(Versed)，未料護士竟誤拿成10毫克的維庫溴銨(Vecuronium)，替婦人注射完之後便將她推進斷層掃瞄機，因此沒有人發現異狀。等到察覺後卻為時已晚，儘管院方極力搶救，婦人仍不幸在隔天因心臟驟停，導致腦死身亡。

犯下致命錯誤的護士稱，因為在醫院電腦系統中搜尋鎮靜安眠藥時遇到困難，最後只輸入「VE」2個字母，便拿走1瓶維庫溴銨。另外，醫院在今年進行現場調查，發現該名護士繞過多個安全機制才導致悲劇發生；而院方也發布聲明稱「我們在確認婦人死亡後，便立即向家屬承認錯誤，並採取了必要的措施」最後說明「因未能確保患者在安全的環境中接受治療，將提出『矯正計畫』以防止類似錯誤再次發生。並將繼續與田納西州衛生部、醫療保險及醫療補助服務中心的代表密切合作，以確保任何問題能夠在有限的時間內徹底解決」

據了解，維庫溴銨是1種肌肉鬆弛劑，醫療上常用於全身麻醉；另外，田納西州和其他州處決犯人或連環殺人犯，也會使用這類藥物。
